Catasetum laminatum – the Scaled Catasetum

Catasetum laminatum is a medium-sized, seasonally growing orchid from central and south-western Mexico. It is an epiphyte with plump pseudobulbs and an erect flower spike that appears as a new growth develops.

Features:

  • 🌏 Origin: Central and south-western Mexico, in seasonally dry tropical regions.
  • 🌸 Flower size and duration: Flowers are about 8 cm across and are carried in several-flowered racemes. Individual flower duration is not well documented and can vary.
  • 🎨 Flower colour and fragrance: Male and female flowers can differ in form and colour; female flowers in the genus are typically green. Fragrance for this species is not reliably documented.
  • 🌿 Growth habit and mature size: Medium-sized, epiphytic, pseudobulb-forming orchid with a seasonal growth cycle.
  • 🪴 Plant size: Check the product options and current listing details for the plant size offered.
  • ☀️ Growing notes: A warm to hot grower. Provide light to moderate shade, good air movement and regular water while actively growing. As growth and flowering finish, allow the plant its seasonal rest and reduce watering.
  • 📦 Postage: Live plants cannot be posted to Western Australia, the Northern Territory or Tasmania due to quarantine restrictions.

Flower colour, fragrance and flowering performance can vary between plants and growing conditions. The plant supplied will be similar in size and quality to the photos.
